Following in the footsteps of The Beatles, Green Day will launch their own version of the video game “Rock Band”. The game, where the players will be able to play along with the punk trio their greatest hits, is set for release in 2010.

Lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong said about the game: “We want people to fire this up, choose their favourite Green Day tracks, and play along with us as Rock Band avatars so they can feel what it’s like to perform on stage as Green Day.”

The video game is compatible with Playstation 3, Wii and Xbox 360. “Rock Band” has proved to be highly successful since its release in 2007. The latest edition in the series, “The Beatles: Rock Band”, was launched in September.
